Alitheia (pronounced uh-lith-ee-uh), a Greek word meaning 'not forgetting' and 'truth' saw it's official beginnings in the summer of 2001. This came nearly 2 years after yet-to-be frontman Alfredo Vicente (who, inspired by guitarist Raul Valentine's previous band, learned to croon and polished his technique by 'singing in the woods for hours') returned to South Florida after an indefinite hiatus. Alongside his classical piano and Bel Canto training, Alfredo's introspective temperament would provide the impetus for his outbursts of poetry which in due time would prove essential to the thematic explorations of the group. In 1999, guitarist Raul Valentine, (the eldest of the group with 21 years experience at present) was drawing a close to his band of 7 years, Savannah Fuma, which enjoyed some local success in the mid-90's. Alongside his hard rock inclination, Raul studied Classical guitar to familiarize himself with proper technique, and North Classical Indian sitar to expand his understanding of sound and the culture surrounding it. Raul's broad musical influences allow for a spectrum of unfamiliar moods that draw the listener irresistibly further into the heart of Alitheia. Long-time friend and bandmate, bassist Rick Albertini (previously of Savannah Fuma as well), joined his first band at the age of 15. Rick now serves as linchpin to the band. Anchoring and counterbalancing the oft-transcendent soundscapes of the sonic body. Four years would pass before drummer Xavier would join the group. An apprentice to Italo Lamboglia (Shakira's 1st drummer), Xavier's extensive repertoire of drum grooves as well as experience playing before crowds of 40,000 in his native Colombia held great importance for the group. With unbridled showmanship and asymmetric beats, Xavier provides Alitheia with an unwavering backbone.
