The band, based in a small Midwestern industrial town near Chicago, is made up of four well-traveled musicians. Guitarist Paul Tadder and bassist Joey Talbott, first teamed up as the co-founders and primary songwriters of the acclaimed metal act, Wheeliebar. Tadder and Talbott's former band's music hit the national metal charts, ahead of bands like Korn and Anthrax, and right behind bands such as Metallica, Deftones, Poison The Well, and As I Lay Dying. The band has shared the stage with bands such as Incubus, Sevendust, Papa Roach, Trapt and Cypress Hill, and was recognized twice in the JPF International Independent Music Awards for Best CD and Best Song. Coming off of the successes of that band, the songwriting duo decided to move forward with a new sound, teaming up with longtime friend and established drummer, Brent Nimz. The three have been playing together in the same music circuit for over twenty years, so the chemistry was there even before the first song was written. Nimz's punk rock drumming background brings an aggressive element to the songs. Once the trio was together, the lineup was completed by recruiting Billy Nugent to front the band. Nugent earned a name for himself by performing solo in the Southern California music scene, before heading back to the Midwest to continue his music career. Nugent's melodic tones and personal lyrics are an engaging fit to complement the solid, rock n' roll sounds. Throughout the years, the band members have been influenced by such bands as Black Sabbath, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Husker Du, Minor Threat, The Hellacopters, Black Flag, Chevelle, Incubus, 24-7 Spyz, Anthrax, Bad Religion and Judas Priest. American Uprise are very enthusiastic about the new sound, and are anxious to share it on a broad scale.
