On the Dashboard of a Shaky Car[CD]
In the past year, Arielle's songwriting has garnered kudos from ASCAP, Nashville's American Songwriter magazine, Berklee College of Music, The Boston Globe, and more. This summer, former radio rep from Righteous Babe Records, John Briggs, trailed the band called Arielle that precious combination of bluesy soul, intimate writing and powerful stage presence. Weeks later, Arielle and her band opened for legendary Grammy winners America to an audience of thousands. Now she's back in the studio, recording her follow up LP to her 2005 EP release. Supported by indie label Passion Records, Arielle is writer, producer, and performer on bloth albums, which feature her award-winning clarinet playing along side her beautiful voice, terrific band, and guest players. Backed by drummer/ percussionist Scott Manley (incidentally, grand-nephew of America's first pop songwriter Stephen Foster) and bassist Mariana Iranzi (also, incidentally, great grand-daughter of famed Argentinian tango composer Julio De Caro), Arielle has been called the love child of PJ Harvey and Wilco, blessed with Natalie Merchant's voice, and backed by an edgier-than-Dave Matthew's rhythm section. Born and raised along the East Coast with a suitcase packed to move, Arielle Silver is a singer/ songwriter who finds her stories in the coat tails of rootless searching and lonely goodbyes. In her writing, the physical world draws the borders, but feelings reign supreme. Whether it is the ocean's constant flee and return to the shore, the flightiness of July 4th fireworks, or the loss of words in the face of love, Arielle gathers inspiration from desire and longing and pulls the yearning into powerful deliveries of song and spirit. Arielle and her band are currently charming audiences in the Northeast between recording sessions.
