Armenian duduk master Armen Stepanyan presents traditional duduk music joined by Hayk Stepanyan on dam duduk. Together they play the compositions of Kara-Mourza, one of the first Armenian composers who harmonized Armenian popular music on the polyphonic principles of western music. They also play the works of Komitas Vartabed, one of the most renowned Armenian Churchmen of the late 1800s & early 1900s. After the massacre of the Armenian people by the Turks, he succumbed to mental & physical anguish & never fully recovered, and lived like a walking corpse for the next twenty years. The revered holy man died in Paris in 1935 in a mental hospital.
