Backbone is a four piece hard rock band out of Sacramento, CA. Their story goes back to 2004 when singer, guitar player, and songwriter, Jorge Palacios, moved from his hometown, a little city on the East coast of Spain, to California's Central Valley. Driven by his passion for American rock bands, he followed his dream, even if it meant being 6,000 miles away from home. For 3 years Jorge struggled on his quest to find the right musicians that would allow him to achieve his goals. His prayers were finally answered when in the summer of 2007, he met lead guitar player and co-writer, Rey Valdez. They both agree, "We've been looking for each other for a long time." Immediately they began writing what would become Backbone's first album, "Rising Underground." The band completed it's full line-up towards the end of the year when they came across bass player Johnny Eye and drummer Dave Murguia. In Jorge's words, "They were the ones who gave Rey and me a chance to put our music out there." Finally in January 2008, after almost 4 years of struggle, Backbone was a reality. And as one, they began rehearsing and gigging until they hit the studio in April. Backbone's self-produced and recorded first album, "Rising Underground," brings a mix of explosive guitars, hard driving rhythms with piercing leads and powerful vocals combined to deliver a refreshing new sound in hard rock music. As Johnny put it, "We've created a monster that has taken over our lives, and it has given us all hope for the future to come. That's how we came up with the title for the album. We all feel reborn with a new chance to rise above from the underground we all came from." Backbone is setting new standards in music through it's absolutely powerful and merciless shows, bringing an energy that has been fading away throughout this decade. From Black Sabbath to Metallica, from Alice In Chains to Nirvana, or to more current bands like Papa Roach and Three Days Grace, there is an overwhelming desire deep within the band to bring back that sound that will blow up your speakers again!
