Joy While We Wait
Barbara Carroll, the composer and chief musician for her music, was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. From childhood, she had a strong interest in learning the piano, but for most of her growing years had no piano in the home. She did, however, take every opportunity to practice on the piano at her home church. Unable to afford formal lessons, Barbara taught herself and at the age 14, she became the pianist for the youth choir of her local church. Two years later, her mother, Mary A. Davis, purchased a piano for their home, and Barbara continued to develop her musical talents further, still without any formal lessons. At the age of 22, Barbara met and married her husband Jimmy R. Carroll, who shared her passion for music, with an expressed interest in the drums. Over time, Barbara and Jimmy developed their musical skills, and became valuable members of the music departments of every church they attended. Through her brother's encouragement, Dr. Don L. Davis (a very skillful guitar player and songwriter himself), Barbara began to compose her own songs, both lyrics and music. Soon, she and Jimmy formed a group called Life Band, a musical experience which became the springboard for their innovative contemporary Gospel music production today. Now, Jimmy is both engineer and producer for their remarkable musical pieces, recorded in their home studio in Wichita. As a truly gifted composer and musician, Barbara sees this as the beginning of other projects, each joyfully expressing her unique and refreshing brand of Gospel. Above all else, she desires that her music will so carry an anointing from the Lord that he will use it to minister true grace and encouragement to it's hearers. Through grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the support of her husband, Jimmy, her talented guitar playing brother Don, and her multi-talented children, Jason and Angela, as well as her talented sister, Linda, Barbara will assuredly continue to record the kind of music that delivers the word of God in song, the kind that can bless and inspire the heart. As always, Barbara gives all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for her fine work, for apart from him, we can do nothing.
