'As soon as you hear the music on this recording, you will probably agree that Bruce Swaim's playing embraces the sacred and the profane. He knows street and he knows sophisticated, and he's learned that the genius of the best American music is that the combination is not mutually exclusive and benefits from both elements. The tunes on this album include a seldom heard Bud Powell Tune, two excursions by Chick Corea, a lovely song by Brazilian Ivan Lins, two American songbook classics, and two choice original compositions. On all, he is way on top of his game. Hats off to players-producers Paul Langosch and Jay Cooley for saying enough's enough and putting this session together, and for drummer Dominic Smith, whose drumming links and lifts it all up. I think this album is terrific as a first chapter. I hope many more chapters will follow.' Bill Holland (formerly Billboard's Washington D.C. Bureau Chief)
