Crysknife is a long-running project of the brothers Tom and Steve Campitelli. Taking their name from a weapon found in Frank Herbert's Dune books (they're huge fans), they've been writing heavy, well-crafted songs based around Steve's keyboards and Tom's guitar work. Borrowing pieces from their favorite metal and non-metal bands - Helmet, Deep Purple, King's X, Paradise Lost, James Brown, Clutch, and The Meters, to name a few - Crysknife forged their own sound - one that is confident, directed, and satisfying. Steve's extensive training as a classical pianist underlies Cryknife's fluency with disparate musical genres. Despite their chops, the band is relentlessly focused on writing memorable songs. In the past several years, Crysknife recorded several demos and now with Mythos they have their first full CD release. Featuring 10 groove-heavy guitar and keyboard-based songs, it's Crysknife's most fully realized work. Produced by the band and featuring Phil Robertson's expert studio drumming, Mythos is sure to earn a lasting spot in your music collection.
