DANNY BOY MONEY Growing up on the south side of Bronx, N.Y., the birthplace of hip hop, Danny Boy Money has not only heard the music, but "seen the music." "My grandmother had to drag me away from break-dancing in the 1982-83 eras," he says. Danny Boy's influence of hip hop culture was carried to New London, CT, where he moved in 1986 with his family for a better life. By age 14, Danny Boy was already writing lyrics thanks to inspiration from his oldest brother. He describes his style as "street, hip hop-the true essence of it."Implementing a lot of Spanglish lyrics, a mixture of Spanish and English, Danny Boy wants to make his mark in hip hop history and "pick up where Big Pun left off with Puerto Ricans for hip hop." Since 2004, Danny Boy has released five solo mixtapes including: New Rules Vol. 1, New Rules Vol. 2, Prince of CT, the 4th Quarter Mixtape and Talk of the Town. Danny Boy's current single, "My Life," a collaboration with Tru Life, is a track that is "self-explanatory." Representing the streets and the music industry, Danny Boy is "trying to rep CT." A self-professed Five Percenter (The Nations of Gods and Earths), which follows a mathematics-based way of life, Danny Boy also uses his principles in both his music and life. "I know what's going on in the game," he says. "What I'm doing now could affect my future."
