Live at Montreaux
Digitally remastered edition. Violinist Darol Anger and pianist Barbara Higbie had already built plenty of chemistry by the time they recorded this live record at the Montreux Jazz festival in 1984. The two recorded Tideline in 1980 and quickly became mainstays of the Windham Hill roster. Higbie's unique compositional style, gently melodic yet full of odd times and unpredictable phrases perfectly dovetails with Anger's remarkable fusion of American fiddle styles. Mike Marshall plays mandolin and acoustic guitar, Todd Phillips plays bass, and with Andy Narell on steel pans the record demonstrates a delightful and unusual orchestral palette.
