Hi, Here is our new c.d. Give it a listen. I know the market is glutted with 'product' but ours is really special. At least we like to think so. Perhaps you will too. We don't have a recording contract. Nor do we have a manager or an agent. We just like to play music, mostly in the basement, but sometimes in a club or café, and sometimes for a theater production. We have been doing this a long time. We are getting old now. Some of us have children. Our music is in a lot of different genres-this makes it fun to play and listen to, but difficult to market and sell. Perhaps you would like to buy it, or write a little something about it, or play it on your radio station. That would be great. Thanks for your time, David Russell and the Sideshow David Russell and the Sideshow release 'Parallel Universe'; equal parts theatrical pop, summer of love psychedelia, and carnival nostalgia, all glued together with classic song craft, and funny-sad lyrics. David Russell and the Sideshow have been making music for theater for eight years now. They have been seen in different combinations at The Empty Space Theatre, On the Boards, Consolidated Works, in Seattle, Edmonton, Canada, La MaMa in New York City, and the A.S.K. Festival and the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles. The current line-up is a five piece featuring stand-up bass, trumpet, musical saw, accordion, drums, glockenspiel, alto horn, electric guitar, piano and vintage keyboards. 'Parallel Universe' is their third release. Press about David Russell's songwriting: 'David Russell has created a delightful score with all the right hooks and truly creative lyrics.' --See Magazine, Edmonton 'startlingly versatile composer/singer/guitarist/actor. Russell's tunes demonstrate the styles and temperaments of bygone songsters Harry Nilsson, Kurt Weill, and Bertold Brecht live on.' --Seattle Post Intelligencer 'Great music by David Russell (who is sure to have a record contract soon) --Vue Weekly, Edmonton 'The music is striking and lovely. A blend of Kurt Weill and more modern artists such as David Bowie.' --Seattle Post Intelligencer Influenced by: Waits, Weill, Nilsson, mid Beatles, Raymond Scott, XTC, Nina Rota, early Bowie, 30's swing and torch, Kinks, Costello, Porter, etc. File with: Rufus Wainwright, The Decembrists, Beulah, Fruit Bats, Starlight Mints, Elliot Smith, the Shins, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
