Country and Midwestern
Country and Midwestern' (© 2009) Produced by Dean Madonia Mixed by Dean Madonia Mastered at Soft Monkey Studios by Dean Madonia This CD may surprise some people out there who know me. Especially those who have been listening since the heady prog days with Jonathan Kreisberg and Wyscan. After the release of my solo CD 'Deep Sky' in 1998, I began to concentrate more on writing and recording than performing. I have been living in Nashville (music city), since 2002 and with the plethora of amazing talent here, it is only natural that I have recorded a CD of country music! This is the best of my solo-written country songs. I picked these 12 out of over 100 songs. I have played them at writers nights, posted them on myspace, re-written them over and over, and I believe they are now ready for your ears! I was lucky to get Garth Brooks' steel player Bruce Boughton, studio acoustic guitarist Larry Beaird, Bass player Brian Eckert, Guitarist Val (Evans) Lupescu, Cellist John Catchings and drummer, Randy (Red) Ridenour. Keep an eye out in the future for a CD of co-writes too, until then here's my official info: Dean Madonia - Bio Born and raised Kalamazoo Michigan, Dean is both a musician, and a visual artist. He has been playing piano professionally since age 8 when he performed during his musician father's breaks at the local Ramada Inn piano bar. Picking up the guitar at age 13, Dean performed his originals in various coffeehouses throughout high-school and while attending Central Michigan University. At Central, he starred for two seasons in a local PBS children's television show Acorns and Oak-trees, where he was required to write and perform a song live each week for faculty children. Moving to South Florida in the eighties, Dean performed and recorded with over 40 original and cover bands and opened for such diverse acts as: New Grass Revival, Steve Vai, Dee Dee Ramone, Company B, Dottie West, and Ygnwie Malmsteen . In the 90's, Dean's original band Third Wish/Wyscan (featuring Jonathan Kreisberg on guitar), released a three song self- titled EP as Third wish and a full length CD also titled Third Wish as Wyscan which was distributed mostly in Japan through jazz/fusion guitarist Bon Lozago's label, Lo Lo Records . On completion of that CD, Dean left Wyscan to record and release his first solo CD, Deep Sky which was released in 1998. Dean began to concentrate more on writing while working in Jon Secada's production studio Heaven Studios with Charles Dye and has four songs under single song contract with Emilio Estefan's company, Foreign Imported Publishing . Dean has been making trips to Nashville to write and perform since 1999, and finally settled here in 2002 where he has made a living playing music, performing as a solo act, with his band, and with many Nashville stars including Julie Roberts, Gary Allan and Billy Currington. ____________________________________________________________ Here are some past reviews: 'Dean Madonia have done this years so far best indy release...gets me to think of guys like Kevin Gilbert, David Sylvian and Bryan Ferry.
