Nick Stargu started his career in music in Connecticut, with the horribly named but instrumentally proficient prog-rock band - Karma. Tired of performing songs that lasted over 10 minutes, Nick began writing short songs based on weird things that ranged from blankets to thievery. Inspired by a self-centered DJ at an open mic, Nick created the DJ Real character, and decided to take his strange songs to the stage. After releasing three albums, and being well received in CT, Nick brought the DJ Real act to San Francisco, where he has been gaining recognition in the area's eclectic music and comedy circuits. DJ Real has been performing throughout the Bay Area's music and comedy circuit, most recently featuring at the 2008 and 2009 San Francisco Sketch Festivals. His live act has been likened to the Talking Heads, The Residents, and Steve Martin. Nick is currently promoting the release of his fourth DJ Real studio album, Personal Growth.
