Donald Sanders' love affair with music began at an early age. His father, an A.M.E.Zion Church minister and his mother, active in church music, created a foundation on which his love of Gospel Music is built. A deeply spiritual person, Sanders' compositions are a reflection of this commitment to God. A native of the same hometown as jazz great Dizzy Gillespie--Cheraw, South Carolina--Sanders shares a bit of the small town soul that made Gillespie a legend. Donald's first love affair musically was with the piano. And in addition to his talent as a pianist, he has proven himself a gifted musician with the clarinet, tenor sax, baritone horn, tuba and the sousaphone. Poised to take his place at the apex of emerging pop, rhythm and blues and gospel performers, Donald Sanders now boasts an extensive record of live performances, media recognition and travel experience that provides him with the foundation he needs to blossom as a recording artist. As the lead singer of a group called Chase, Donald's charismatic and joyful stage presence has garnered him a reputation as an exciting, energetic artist, as well as top billing at many special events in the Boston area. He counts Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Larnell Harris, Earth Wind and Fire, Babyface, and Will Downing among his influences, yet has a thoroughly original and distinguishing sound. His smooth and soulful presentation combined with his exceptional vocal range and distinctive sound have led to inevitable comparisons to the masters of their genre--Luther Vandross, Billy Ocean, and Nat King Cole. Sanders is a seasoned professional in writing, composing, stage production, and studio session work. His commitment to music has led him to Berklee College of Music-Boston and to the director's chair of multiple church choirs around the city. Sanders has achieved great success as a stage performer. He notched top honors at the 1986 Budweiser Showdown sponsored by Boston radio station WILD. He has also earned engagements in civic halls, large auditorriums and clubs all along the East Coast, and as far away as Japan. Enjoying a wealth of experience in the music industry at many levels, Donald has opened for groups such as The SOS Band, Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam, Ready for the World, and Kashif. He has also been featured in radio and television commercials for companies all over the US and Canada. In addition, Sanders has performed on demo tapes, and musical projects and in recitals, community events, and church affairs along with other musicians in the Boston area. With gospel firmly planted in his soul, Sanders parlayed his family's relocation to Trumbull, Connecticut into an opportunity to expose his talents to a new audience. There, his dreams of winning talent shows and marching band competitions, singing solos in church and performing in night clubs and outdoor concerts became a reality very early on. There he founded a gospel group called The Sounds of Inspiration for which he first performed and composed original music. And it was there that he first took center stage, and the spotlight hasn't lost track of this rising star since. /Just a note/ This CD promises to be a blessing to your christian life.
