A new music collective is emerging in Pittsburgh. Comprised of rappers, musicians and producers, they call themselves 'The Get Right Family.' On of the members is an artist named Gary also known as EDOT (an acronym for Every Drop Of Talent). Originally from New Jersey, Gary is currently a student at Point Park University. Growing up in a famous musical family, he was always writing songs, poetry or verses. He even recorded his first song at the age of eight, but it wasn't until he went to college that he began to take it to the next level. EDOT is a name Gary chose to show people that he wants to be judged on that basis-- that he puts every bit of himself and the life around him into his music. The culmination of his writing is reflected in his first album, titled 'EMERICA'. When asked about his songwriting and inspiration, Gary says: 'The Hip Hop industry is over-saturated with tuff guys or astronauts. I choose topics that people either miss, do not like or can't discuss because they are too busy caught up in the nonsense-- and it's not that I write anything that's controversial or extremely politica, I just try to be as human as possible.' 'Mr. E', a club oriented track with a 'down south' feel, is the first single off the album. The video, filmed by a film student friend, shows the course of a day in the life of EDOT and includes some of The Get Right Family and other aspiring artists in EDOT's circle. With a growing following in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, This grass roots music ia about to go national.
