The music of the George Lewis Band is deceptively simple, mostly melody with a beat. The music here is full of life, zest and vitality and a good indication of what was to come from George and the band in the ensuing years. Musicians are: George Lewis (clarinet), Elmer Talbert, Kid Howard and Percy Humphrey (trumpet), Jim Robinson (trombone), Alton Purnell (piano), Lawrence Marrero (banjo), Alcide Pavageau (string bass) and Joe Watkins (drums).
