Halfway Home has boldly announced it's presence on the Americana music scene. Country, blues, and Cajun influences are all over this recording, quite often on the same tracks. With the release of their first CD, Better Days, the Columbus, Ohio-based band Halfway Home has boldly announced it's presence on the Americana music scene. Better Days contains a tasty mix of original material as well as songs that have been crowd favorites at their live shows. Opening the CD with Gillian Welch's Tear My Stillhouse Down, Halfway Home demonstrates the emotional intensity and instrumental virtuosity that has bought them a dedicated following. Drawing on material from such other notables as Cheryl Wheeler, Kieran Kane & Kevin Welch, and Canadian phenom: Dan Frechette, Halfway Home's artfully crafted arrangements put their unique stamp on other writers' compositions. Country, blues, and Cajun influences are all over this recording, quite often on the same tracks. Instrumentation includes guitars, mandolins, bouzouki, bass, and accordion, with guest musicians providing lap steel, percussion, banjo, and fiddle on selected cuts. Better Days is an album you'll come back to often.
