Last Plane to Memphis
Hamburger James is here to prove that 3 minute records and the vintage sounds of 1950's rock n' roll can still push musical boundaries. An Elvis-worshipping trip to Memphis opened the eyes of the Hamburger James boys and sparked the ember that eventually grew into a raging bonfire of hillbilly rock n' roll. The band takes it's name from a member of Elvis' entourage whose sole job in life was to get The King a bag of burgers whenever he was in need. Hamburger James offically formed in January of 2007 with the not-so-modest goal of backing up the 'Female Elvis' herself- Janis Martin. The four piece rock n' roll band was only 3 months old when they took the stage, played a full set of original music, and then turned around to back up the 'Original Rockabilly Queen'. 'You told me you'd get me a good band,' Janis told the promoter, 'but these boys can really rock!' Hamburger James' first show made rockabilly enthusiasts everywhere stand up and take notice. Packed houses and enthusiastic, energetic crowds have put the band squarely in the heart of the roots music scene. The end of 2007 found the boys in the studio laying down their first record. The debut album, 'Last Plane to Memphis' is a showcase of the band's energetic, captivating style. All-in-all, Hamburger James is truly original, with a sound that sticks to it's roots without sounding like an imitation. This ain't no novelty act!
