Brothers of the Sky
HENRY IGLESIAS Hello to all Henry Iglesias fans, from the ones who have been with us from the release of his first album to the new one who is just finding out about who "the Man, the Myth, the Legend" really is. Henry's 3rd album, Brothers of the Sky, has been released posthumously. I would like to tell you a little about the making of this album. Henry was diagnosed with brain cancer on 02-21-07. After the tumor removal, he went to work on his 3rd album, BROTHERS OF THE SKY. He teamed up with the brilliant sound engineer, Chris Beard. What they created is far more special then you could realize at first glance. This album is a collection of what Henry would have wanted the world to know about his thoughts on life, love, and pursuit of happiness. Every song on this album has a little taste of his insight and wisdom, however, there are a few songs that I wanted to pay special attention to. The 7th song on the album is the only song he wrote after the operation. It's called LIFE'S A BEAT. In a very jazzy rendition of the classical Row Row Row your boat, Henry tells us how we need to live our life working toward being happy, living in the divine flow, and focusing on taking life as it comes. The 11th song, THE SMILE OF GOD, is a song that birthed a purpose in Henry. After he made this very special song- he wanted to start a foundation with the same name. He wanted it to help poor families in Mexico giving them a place to take care of their kids- while the single mothers went to work, a place that would be safe to leave their children, a place that would not only house them but feed them care for them. He sang this song on Spanish Radio in Los Angeles on February 14, 2007, during a money drive to help St Jude's Hospital. St. Jude's Hospital, focuses on helping children with cancer. He helped raise 3 million dollars that day. This was just a week before finding out he was in the same situation as the children he just helped. This was by far one of his proudest moments. The 14th song, BROTHERS OF THE SKY, is probably one of the oldest songs Henry has on this album. You might say this song is his OPUS. He started writing it when he was in his twenties, tweaked it for the next thirty years, perfecting it and then working on it some more. After he found out about his cancer and that after the operation he still had the brainpower to create a third album- He immediately started recording this song. IT IS ABOUT THE ANGEL THAT TAKES YOU HOME TO GOD. His words are so clear and so predicting. Henry finished the recording of the album in a few short months after the operation. We put the finishing touches on it and it was ready. Unfortunately, he never got to see the release of this album. Henry left us on December 15, 2007 just 8 months after his diagnoses. I was left to carry on this dream for him. I hope you enjoy this album. It is one with great worth, depth, and emotion. It has special meaning and light and I hope you treasure this legacy as much as I did living it. Sincerely, Shasta Iglesias Wife.
