Bred from a lie to a beautiful girl, Ikillcars was born the same day as Baby Jesus, Christmas of 2004 (that night, and for a year afterward the band was known as Japansterdam). It took another seven months for them to play their first show as a looking-back-now loathsome duo. Don't think they were practicing that whole time, no no, only 4 hours of writing and rehearsing before the show on July 3 of the next year. Since then, they have played house parties and club gigs regionally and taken the no holds barred punk rock ideal to new heights. First, they started practicing - tightening up the set, and focusing on a style that was raw and powerful, yet original in concept. Second, following a somewhat botched recording session, they added a new member, though more skillful than the original two, he had a wily knack towards the chaos in music. Third, upon re-entering the live arena, and recording the BeCKY EP, sought out bands and musicians of a like mind - sick of the scenester circles and retro-hacks alike - to start a revolution of sorts. While crowds and critics compare the threesome to The Minutemen, The Stooges and early Guided By Voices, Ikillcars continues to create sordid songs and three-and-a-half minute soundscapes that are all their own. And now they play as the original two piece Ikillcars (upon recording BeCKY) was: Johnny Law - vocals, guitar Lonnie Burgos - guitar, bass, keys Scotty O - drums Ikillcars is: Johnny Law - vocals, guitar Lanyo Bourgeois - bass The Gigi - drums.
