Title:
Dvd : Portrait Of Petula
Artist:
Petula Clark
Petula Clark defines the term “international vocal superstar,” and on our first-ever DVD exclusive—which has NEVER been out, even on VHS—she certainly lives up to her billing, as this 1969 TV special was filmed in Paris, London, New York, Geneva and Los Angeles! And you'll know right away that it's the late-'60s, as the color-drenched sets and 'joie de vivre' expressed in every note she sings could only have come from that time and place(s). In addition to performing her worldwide smash records 'I Know A Place' and 'My Love', Petula offers enchanting renditions of 'This Girl's In Love With You; My Funny Valentine; When I Was A Child; Mademoiselle De Paris', and the beautiful ballad 'You & I' from her motion picture 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips', while crooner Andy Williams duets with Petula on the lovely 'Visions Of Sugar Plums' and the playful 'You Can't Rollerskate In A Buffalo Herd' (written by Roger Miller). Andy also sings 'Happy Heart', a hit for both himself and Petula, and, in keeping with the international flavor, French vocalist Sacha Distel performs 'Love Is Blue' and joins Petula and Andy for 'The Poor People Of Paris'. Then it's back to London for an appearance by British actor Ron Moody as his character Fagin from the film 'Oliver', and a song-and-dance duet with Petula. Special bonus material on this DVD includes Petula singing her hit version of 'Walk Through the World with Me' and 'Without A Song', plus new interviews with Petula and Andy Williams! “Enchanting”—'Hollywood Reporter'. 16 songs, 65 minutes! Out January 13.
