Puzzle Pieces (Be Right There B-Sides)[CD]
Selected B-sides from the James Eric record, BE RIGHT THERE. BIO Nestled in the neighborhood of Old Irving Park in Chicago is the studio and living space of a buried treasure that, slowly, is becoming unearthed throughout the Midwest. Underneath headphones and tangled wires, indie rock artist James Eric composes experimental, ambient pop soundscapes, splicing them with distorted noise rock, and then reinterpreting them for an inventive yet accessible melody-driven backdrop. The intensity's the same, but it's pierced with fierce dynamics now, telling simple truths with a single voice and one man's instruments. This is the sound of a man realizing his own potential. A man that has composed scores for films, won awards of achievement in the fine arts, and had the honor of playing the sold-out Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert at Uncommon Ground in 2005. Along with the February release of Acceptance, the latter part of 2006 will unearth James' latest 11-song opus entitled Be Right There. The guitars on the new album are marked by scattershot distortion and the crisp acoustic strums akin to Automatic Pilot's seminal swan-song, Deathless. The piano rings out with a pulse and James' voice is pure and strong. The drums range from cymbal-screeched chaos to cyclical bass-heavy loops. This is music made by a man with nothing to hide; both Acceptance and especially Be Right There are genuine and moving pieces of work, utilizing an undeniable knack for catchy hooks to explore the potential of off-beat instrumentation in the ultimate pursuit of saturating the emotionally stark lyrics with a quiet-to-loud intensity that best befits them. Both records represent a new beginning. In 2007, James will continue to bring that sincerity he captures on disc into performance spaces, whether it be clubs or living rooms. James' motivation and passion takes his new beginning and turns it into something that can't be met with cynicism or doubt; only acceptance. And he will be right there to share it with anyone who dares to listen.
