Until the Sweet Apple Grows on the Sour Apple Tree[CD]
Jeff and Benares Angeley write and perform acoustic music that is at once steeped in tradition and exciting and new. Their songs sing the human experience with a distinctly American accent. They are multi-instrumentalists and their newest CD, like their live shows, is loaded with stellar performances on the guitar, accordion, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and harmonica. The 14 songs on the newest compact disc reflect duo's constantly evolving sound, which has expanded to include their influences in rock, folk, country, and jazz. It includes introspective lyrics, the lush harmonies that they have become known for, and twelve original songs that are meticulously crafted and have universal heartfelt appeal. This album marks a step forward in their development as songwriters, performers, and arrangers. As James Cassara from Rapid River Monthly Asheville states, their music is,'music exactly reflective (of) the creators; inviting, unassuming, and imminently likeable.' Currently touring to support their newest CD 'Until the Sweet Apple Grows on the Sour Apple Tree', the duo is intent on bringing their brand of Americana music to audiences up and down the East Coast, as well as Western North Carolina, where they make their home. The initial tour will encompass 12 cities in 7 different states from their native North Carolina to Northern New England. Their expanded Summer and Fall schedule includes such highlights as a trip to Sugar Grove NC's 'Doc Days' festival where Jeff and Benares will get to perform at legendary flatpicking guitarist Doc Watson's personal festival. Summer 2008 marks their third summer of extended touring and their songwirting, recordings, and live performance noticeably resound with their hard work and experience.
