He Mele Aloha
Jennifer Perri At the age of eight, Honolulu-born singer/songwriter Jennifer Perri began making a name for herself. Using singing and dancing skills she performed on Hawaiian TV shows and made various theater appearances. By age13, she had won Hawaii's top children's talent contest, and had the opportunity to co-host the hit local television variety 'OKC TV.' A year later she signed with the major Japanese record label Victor Entertainment. She released her self-titled mini-album in Japan and Hawaii in 2001. Honoring the young star's achievements, the City and County of Honolulu commemorated her album's success by proclaiming July 2 as 'Jennifer Day.' MTV Japan featured Jennifer in a special artist to watch program and had the opportunity to be a spokesperson for Nickelodeon Asia. Success followed as she caught the eyes and ears of multi-platinum R&B and reggae superstar Shaggy. Jennifer was invited on tour with the superstar to sing and perform across Europe and at shows in Los Angeles and Hawaii. In 2006, Jennifer was honored to have the opportunity to be the first singer to record on ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro's album 'Gently Weeps'. 'Wish On My Star' (sung by Jennifer) was featured in the Japanese Movie 'Hula Girl.' She was also giving the chance to record the main theme song for the movie 'Hula Girl.'
