I Don't Want Another Heartache
II grew up in Ohio, just between Detroit and Nashville . At night I would get great reception on my pink clock radio and listen to the Nashville sounds and the sound of Motown. I was raised on Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane as my mother was a Jazz pianist. My father bought me a used Harmony guitar when I was 14 and I started singing and playing in trios in coffee houses and began doing studio vocals. Jackson Browne, Roddy Crowell,& Dolly Parton, were my songwriter idols, and Dolly, Emmy Lou, Patsy Cline, Jackson Browne, and Van Morrison, my singer idols. I learned how to get around the fret board from Stuart Holman, the one time bass player and writer/ collaborator of the Lonnie Mack and his band. I drove to the Ohio River to meet him for sessions, he drove from his farm in Kentucky. I started writing my own music, sold everything I owned but my dog and my guitar and car ( just like I wrote the title song of my first CD, ANOTHER SHOT OF YESTERDAY), and set out across country and began my solo career, playing everything from bars, churches, fairs and seminars, restaurants, clubs &theater concerts doing my original music, sprinkled with a few of my favorite obscure covers by the above mentioned artists. Did music videos, commercials, and studio vocals, spending most of my time in Nevada, Arizona, and landing in Southern California. I formed my own record company FROM THE INSIDE music and J. Mere' Publishing / Production Company 3 years ago and set out as an INDIE recording 2,12 song cds, getting best songwriter and performing awards internationally and much radio airtime around the globe. And now, because of the support of European DJs, especially, and fans, and USA Country/ Western DJS for playing my original brand of Alternative Country Music I was encouraged to keep writing. I spent last year traveling and performing in Europe, Nashville and in West Virginia, learning to perfect my Country storytelling skills and musical ability. Now, back in Southern California, I recorded my 3rd solo effort, I DON'T WANT ANOTHER HEARTACHE, which I intend to debut in Todmorden, UK,in the fall of this year, for some very special friends and fans. It will prove to be my best and most fun CD yet. It is semi-autobiographical, about love and heartbreak, yet sprinkled with wit and great lyrical country hooks and backed by upbeat country melodies. I recorded with some of the best COUNTRY players in the music scene. ***The ECMA has just nominated me for BEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR GLOBALLY; BEST INDIE FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR, BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR: PACK UP MY DREAMS AND GO HOME; GLOBALLY AND AS AN INDIE. I have many new reviews in Spain, Italy, UK, us, and New Zealand as well as new fans. Joyce-Mere' has just returned from a performance at the Tenth Annual Golden Eagle Awards in Nashville where she was nominated for four awards including Best New Female Star, Performer, songwriter, and DJ's choice. She also had the pleasure of meeting up with old friend and touring buddy, Ernie Ashworth at Bayou Studios as well as award winning DJ Darryll Few, a very good friend, who traveled from Yorkshire, UK. I have been offered an opportunity to join the Cadillac of Indie labels, but have some top publishers of country music interested in her in her out of Nashville, and a few labels, too, so decisions have to be made. A prolific writer, look for her next CD, ALL THINGS MUST PASS, THIS SUMMER. (2004) Tragically Joyce took her own life in 1/30/2004 in the most awful circumstances - and nobody wants to know why.
