Speed Dial: Love
BAND INFO: kLoB is a Florida soul band formed by Kip Kolb in 2002. With a powerful outlook on songwriting and performance, kLoB is rapidly winning over audiences in diverse markets. From Florida to New York City, this band is leaving a trail of life long fans in it's wake. 'Catchy songs with funky beats and soulful sounds define kLob's concept. Kip's gravely world-worn voice sounds like a cross between Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen. Over it's tenure as a working band, kLoB has evolved into a tautly wired ensemble which is more than the sum of it's parts. Indeed, this musical force attracts all age groups to it's hot modern sound, which is an alchemy of avant-garde ideas and old school concepts, distilled into a unique trademark sound. Intelligent songwriting is the fuel that will drive this band to glory.' -Rick Grant, EU Jacksonville ALBUM INFO: kLoB's latest release, speed dial: LOVE, embodies a time when albums were written as an entire work, rather than a sonic check-list of projected hits - not necessarily a concept album, but cohesive with it's ebb and flow, every ending leading with emotional relevance to every beginning. The songs on 'speed dial' also take a comfortable departure from the short attention span mindset of late, with only three of the twelve tracks clocking in under five minutes. That being said, even the longest of them, the two-part song, Lima, will keep you rapt with it's theatrical biography of a man from rural Florida finding the love of his life in a beautiful woman from Lima, Peru. Having fallen in love through their letters, sent back and forth across two continents, they married and settled down far from all the noise and traffic lights on the banks of a sparsely populated spring-fed lake. These are timeless songs that play at their own pace. Songs that feel good and can make you say, 'man, I know what he's talking about.' And they capture a truly organic sound.. No drum loops, click tracks or fancy editing here. The basic tracks of these songs were recorded live in the studio, and it shows.
