Hag-Capitol Recordings 1968-1976 Concepts Live & T
Bear Family concludes its complete set of Merle Haggard’s Capitol recordings with yet another monumental boxed set, this time one containing all of Hag’s "concept" LPs for Capitol from 1968–1976, plus the live LPs and LPs by his band the Strangers! Fans and peers alike count these recordings as some of the finest Merle ever made—inside are his Jimmie Rodgers tribute double-album from 1968 and his Bob Wills tribute album from 1970, which reunited many of Wills’ original Texas Playboys, plus three live albums including one of the bestselling country albums of all time, "Okie from Muskogee—Live in Muskogee, Oklahoma." There’s also the ambitious "Land of Many Churches" project, for which Haggard recorded revival-style gospel project in backwoods Baptist churches, a rescue mission and at San Quentin, and all five "solo" instrumental albums from the Strangers—168 tracks in all with a bunch of unreleased sides! A hardcover, 120-page book examines the work and the man. Bear Family.
