Michael McGovern is a singer/songwriter based in Greenwich Village in New York City. He is currently playing solo acoustic in Manhattan and throughout the northeast. He was formerly the lead singer in the band 'Bang.' They had won the MTV Basement Tapes Competition, were nominated for two Boston Music Awards: Best Rock Band, Best Rock Video, and had performed with The Allman Brothers band, Cheap Trick, and Extreme. His influences are Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the many masters of acoustic guitar blues/rock going back to Robert Johnson, Son House and Charlie Patton. The new record, 'Great Spirit' was recorded at Avatar Studios, formerly The Power Station, in New York City.
