'WHEN THE WORLD WAS GREEN' JADCD 1098 Works by: Robert Allworth, Eric Gross, Ann CarrBoyd. Duration: 32'45' The title track is a solo piano work by Carr-Boyd, performed by the composer, being part of incidental music composed for the play of that name by Sam Shepherd which had it's premier season in Australia at the Belvoir Downstairs Theatre in Sydney, 1998. Carr-Boyd's popular 'Fandango' is also featured, as played by the Sydney Mandolins. They also give the premiere recording of 'For A Gentle Soul' (2000) by Gross, a work subtitled 'Remembering Peter Platt', a friend and colleague of the composer. Allworth's 20-minute work 'Variations for Piano' (1972) is performed by David Miller, and is in one continuous movement, presenting themes which succeed each other in and endless melodic flow, creating a 'Lotus Land' atmosphere.
