Ears Have It
On this three-song EP from songwriter Mitchell Stone, the founder of Emstone Music Publishing, the words and music reflect an eclectic writing style. Pop, country and Christmas music can be heard here. The varietal approach Mitch applies to his writing portrays what he's always believed, which is that there are good aspects in every kind of music. Anyone who loves Christmas will love the new song 'My Christmas Card to You.' It was written by Mitchell Stone and his wife Madeline (Mady) Stone, with thoughts of those couples in love whom, for whatever reason, must be apart from one another at Christmastime. The version of 'My Christmas Card to You' on this album is performed by Gregg Charmley. With lyrics like 'I wish you joy, happiness and me,' a lot of people who've listened to 'My Christmas Card to You' have compared it's sweet sentiment with that of 'White Christmas,' which was the anthem for homesick American soldiers who were involved overseas for the holidays during World War II. Those who've heard 'My Christmas Card to You' have said that with all the turmoil in the world today, it should be the new song for our men and women NOW involved in conflicts worldwide. So it would be appropriate to forward 'My Christmas Card to You' overseas to loved ones you can't be with at Christmastime. Send it as a holiday greeting to one you love, whether that person is in the armed forces halfway around the world--or right around the corner! 'Your Turn to Shine' is a song that can be applied to any victory resulting from one's endeavors. Although it's majestic words suggest efforts of Olympic proportions ('...when goin' for gold is a goal you achieve'), it can be applied to nearly any accomplishment. The song's writer, Mitchell Stone, also sings the version heard here. 'Trunkful of Memories (of You)' is a country-flavored ballad for anyone who's really loved somebody, then lost somebody...but had a memorable stash of keepsakes left over from the relationship. For those people, this song will be very relatable. The singer is the composer, Mitchell Stone. Three songs, each one very different from the other two. Three distinct sentiments. One talented writer. And there'll be more songs to come. Stay tuned.
