Nashville Stars on Tour / Various
In April 1964, right at the beginning of Beatlemania, RCA Nashville took the audacious step of sending its biggest stars to Europe. Those making the trip were Jim Reeves, Bobby Bare, the Anita Kerr Singers, Chet Atkins, Skeeter Davis, Willie Nelson, Stu Phillips and Jim Ed Brown, and this 4-CD set captures them in concert and in the studio making some follow-up German language recordings! But that’s not all...you also get a DVD featuring the Oslo concert from the tour as well as footage of the entourage arriving at the Amsterdam airport and even Jim Reeves singing I Love You Because in an airport lounge! A hardcover book explores how Nashville tried to introduce country to Europe...without this tour, the Bear Family label might not even exist! 75 tracks that remained undiscovered for over 40 years.
