His Unending Love
I was born 05/18/1932 in Cass County, Missouri, the 10th of 11 children to John & Ann Isabelle Bridges, a farming family. My mother passed away due to complications from severe burns on March 21, 1947. At that time, I was a freshman at Archie High School and my sister, Betty was in the 7th grade. After Mom's death, we became very close friends. After I learned to play rhythm guitar, we constantly sang together. We not only became the best of friends, we were inseparable. We began participating in singing contests at the local City and County fairs and won quite a few. There was a gentleman from a K.C., Mo. radio station attending one of the fairs, who offered us a job singing Gospel Music on an early morning radio station. Dad refused to allow it, said we had to finish school first. In 1950, right before my 18th birthday, I graduated from Archie High School and moved to Kansas City to work at Sears & Roebuck. I met Lou Matta, whom I married in 1951 and we were married for 37 years. We moved to Los Angeles, Cal. where we had 6 children. We were divorced in 1988. We seemed to move around a lot, and in 1978 we wound up in New Orleans, La., where we lived until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. God led me back to Adrian,Mo.,where I have two brothers and am quite happy. God gave me 23 beautiful inspirational songs from 1988 to 1994. So far I have recorded 10 of the songs and will do the rest when I have the time and money. When I asked God why He had given me songs, as He knew I had no musical education, He said; 'The music was to sustain me, and asked me to share it with others'. I am trying to fulfill my promise to God, by recording the CD and sharing as much as possible with others. God has always been with me, guiding, protecting and being my very best friend. 'I am not afraid, as He is always with me'.
