Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim
Phil Wilson, whose wonderful big band releases on Capri have been among the mainstays of the catalog, returns with a small group recording in tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim. Wide coverage of Jobim's immortal melodies places him among the premier composers in the jazz and vocal pantheons. Wilson attests to the panoply of tastes and colors in quoting widely from the world songbook as he wafts blithely over the changes and sailing rhythms of Jobim's compositions. The rhythm section consists of members of the internationally globetrotting Caribbean Jazz Project and include Peruvian bassist Oscar Stagnaro.
