All This Time
An ordained Itinerant Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Carolyn E. Brailsford is a Preacher of the Gospel, who ministers as Psalmist/Vocal Artist, speaker, teacher of vocal workshops, and presenter on the special topic of Praise and Worship. Her dynamic singing ministry and teaching/preaching style keep her active as a presenter for Women's Conferences, Music Conferences, retreats, and various other events. Rev. Carolyn, as she is affectionately called, was born in Valdosta, GA, and proved early to be a leader and high achiever with a diverse range of talents. She is an honors graduate of Spelman College (Magna Cum Laude 1975) and Indiana University (Bloomington) where she earned a Master of Music Degree with Distinction in Vocal Performance. In 1976 Rev. Carolyn was honored as the first Miss Black Valdosta. Rev. Carolyn established the CaBrailSong School of Vocal Arts, for children and youth, of Metro Atlanta and later Columbia, SC, from which many gifted singers have gone on to achieve great success spiritually and in their vocal skills and gifts. She served on the Music Faculty as Instructor of all Vocal Studies at her beloved Spelman College in Atlanta, GA for 14 years (until 1993). She also served on the faculty of Allen University (Columbia, SC). As Allen's Choral Directress, she produced the first recording of the Concert Choir in twenty-five years. From Classical to Contemporary Christian/Gospel, Rev. Carolyn's gift of song has made room for her on many diverse stages and in front of varied audiences. She has performed for noted dignitaries who include former United Nations Ambassador and Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, Children's Defense Fund's Marian Wright Edelman, and First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement, Coretta Scott King. She has shared the stage with music legends who include Leontyne Price, Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Dorothy Norwood, Dr. Bobby Jones, Kirk Franklin, John P. Kee, Luther Barnes, Jennifer Holiday, and Norman Hutchins. Her singing ministry has also taken her to many countries and across continents including Jamaica, the Bahamas, Bermuda, several countries in Southern Africa, and the East to West Coasts of the U.S.A. Rev. Carolyn wed Rev. Dr. Ronnie E. Brailsford, Sr. in 1983. They now have three wonderful children Veronica-Carol, Ronnie, Jr. and David. Together, they continue to minister as a team, at Bethel A.M.E. Church (Columbia, SC) where she serves as the Minister of Music and Worship Arts.
