He was far and away the most popular recording artist of the pre-rock ‘n’ roll era, and ranks (in box office tickets sold) as the third most popular actor of all time. But for many people, Bing Crosby is best remembered as the congenial host of his legendary television specials, and now, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ON HOME VIDEO, we are bringing you four of those TV events on one long-awaited double-DVD set! These four shows span Bing’s career on screen, and, as always, the list of guest stars is just glittering. From January 3, 1954’s “The Bing Crosby Show for General Electric” on CBS come Crosby performances of 'Y’all Come; It Had to Be You; Changing Partners', and 'I Love Paris', with guest stars Jack Benny, Perry Botkin, the Cass County Boys and more. Then, from September 29, 1959’s “The Bing Crosby Show for Oldsmobile” come 'I’m Glad I’m Not Young Anymore' with Bing, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee; 'Looking at the World Through Rose-Coloured Glasses' and 'Willow Weep for Me' Frank Sinatra; 'Baubles, Bangles & Beads' Peggy Lee; a piano medley of 'I Love a Piano/Lullaby of Birdland/The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else/Where the Blue of the Night; I Love a Piano (Reprise)/Mack the Knife/Too Neat to Be a Beatnik/Basin Street Blues/Everybody Loves My Baby/Lazy Bones' with Bing,George Shearing, Joe Bushkin, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Paul Smith, another medley of 'Them There Eyes/Some of These Days/If I Could Be with You/Lazy River/High Society Rag/Sleepy Time down South/Now You Has Jazz' with Bing, Sinatra, Lee and Armstrong. From May 14, 1962’s “The Bing Crosby Show” on ABC come 'America' with Bing, Bob Hope, Edie Adams and Gary Crosby; a “Road” medley of 'You Lucky People You/Moonlight Becomes You/Road to Morocco/Personality/But Beautiful/Teamwork' with Bing and Bob Hope; 'Let’s Not Be Sensible' and 'I Got Rhythm' Pete Fountain; 'Play a Simple Melody' with Bing, Gary Crosby & Pete Fountain; 'Camp Karefree' with Bing, Gary Crosby, Edie Adams and Bob Hope; 'Chocolate' Smothers Brothers, and 'Zing a Little Zong' with the entire cast. Finally, the April 13, 1970 airing of “Bing Crosby—Cool It” (comic guest star: Flip Wilson!) features Bing singing 'Cooling It; Leisure Time', and 'Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head; 'Turn Around' with Bing and Bernadette Peters; a medley of 'Breezin’ Along with the Breeze/Give Me the Simple Life/Bidin’ My Time/Lazy Day/Gone Fishin’/Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think)/Breezin’ Along with the Breeze (Reprise)' with Bing and Dean Martin, and Bing singing 'There’s a New World Coming' and 'Cooling It (Reprise)'.
