Tails of the City[CD]
~ San Francisco Saxophone Quartet
The San Francisco Saxophone Quartet began as a group of buskers playing on the streets of San Francisco in the '80's. The Quartet brought style and dash to the position of street musicians by playing in white tie and tails and performing it's own transcriptions of the masterworks of Bach and Mozart. The group went on to tour extensively around the USA (five tours) and Japan (once). The Quartet has performed at the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival seven times and has filled Davies Symphony Hall (home of the San Francisco Symphony) for four annual concerts. Throughout it's existence, the San Francisco Saxophone Quartet has emphasized stellar quality and musicianship. All it's arrangements are loving and authentic reproductions of the original composers' intentions. No parts are simplified, no essential notes are omitted. Close your eyes, and you'll think you are hearing Baroque trumpets, horns, strings.
