Sarg Records Story / Various
Here comes another one of those Bear Family profiles of the great independent labels of the ’50s and ’60s. This time it’s Charlie Fitch’s Sarg Record Company getting the royal treatment with over 100 songs—most never reissued since their original release—plus a deluxe booklet with biographies and rare pictures! Willie Nelson and Doug Sahm made their earliest recordings for Sarg, but the real stars here are Western swinger Adolph Hofner, honky-tonkers Herby Shozel and Peck Touchton, country-rockabilly mavericks Cecil Moore and Al Urban, rockers the Moods and Downbeats and more…the finest South Texas had to offer from 1954 to 1964.
