When Sherman enrolled his daughter in private cello lessons, he never imagined that he would wind up starting a band with her music teacher, Greg. But after the two shared their mutual admiration of guitar playing and love for music, they knew their new-found bond was worth pursuing. Their debut album Instant Feedback is a six-track ensemble of contemporary adult acoustic rock. The album was recorded at Shuttlecock Studios in Port Washington, NY, and produced by Russell Barnhart (The Condiments, Kristin Diable). With cadenced guitar strumming backed up by smooth beat and a layering of the duos' voices, 'Jackie Louise' is a soft toe-tapping crowd favorite, while the melodies in 'She's the One' are rich with a coffeehouse sense that exudes a heartfelt feel. DiscoveringArtists.com compared the songs to 'a mountainside drive on a sunny Saturday afternoon.' Both men write the songs, and have complimentary songwriting styles. While Greg uses a metaphorical approach, Sherman tends to write directly from the heart. Even though their techniques differ, the musicians have managed to merge their styles into one that showcases their talents. They continue to craft heartfelt tracks intricate in meaning, yet straightforward in stature. Sherman and Greg have created more than 20 original songs in the vein of The Beatles, Crowded House and Eric Clapton. Their vocals are comparable to the Barenaked Ladies' front lining duo of Stephen Page and Ed Robertson during their more acoustic performances, yet remaining distinctive enough to lure in fans with tastes that cross musical genres. They chose the title of their musical operation - Sherman and Greg - to reflect the simplicity of the multifaceted sound. 'If we were going to play in front of people, we wanted them to know, it's just us, not some players behind a name of a band,' Sherman said. 'We wanted to completely expose everything.' Sherman and Greg currently play regular gigs in the New York City locale, and anticipate playing at more venues in the area.
