House of Cards EP
Shipwreck have some ambitious plans. They plan on releasing four EPs, one every four months. The band is alight with inspiration and ready to deliver. The first installment in this masterplan is the gem that you have presented here. The House of Cards EP is a promising peek into the delightful world of sound that Shipwreck has planned for seekers of well-crafted song. Those interested in straight up rock and roll, shoegazer atmospherics, mixed with a folkish marinade of storytelling, roll up your sleeves and give these boys a listen. The titular track, House of Cards, gets things started with a blast of charged air, like a barroom stomp, culminating in a whirlwind of voice. Sexy and relentless. Atlantic weaves a lovely dark tale of those who are waiting impatiently to leave the world of the dead. Alias, the third track on the EP, splits hairs with a group of confused lovers, and ultimately leaves the party stubborn and busting at the seams with frustration. Finally, Black Moon wraps this collection up with a heartbreaking tale of leaving the living world by one's own hands and not being responsible for such tragedy. House of Cards EP is quite a sophomore offering from such an exciting foursome. Look forward to some more mindbending thrills in the next few months.
