Soul Marrow Transplant's debut album, 'Sonoluminescence', is every bit the experiment in light from sound the title suggests. With consistently thought provoking lyrics nestled within an eclectic mix of rock, pop, and passion, SMT delivers a fantastic freshman effort marked by songs that only manage to keep your body from grooving (the album-opening 'All the Rooms') your head from bopping (the appropriately 'catchy-as-all-hell' 'Insert Slogan Here'), and your heart from breaking (the earnest, dynamic 'recognition') when the right lyrical turn of phrase gives you pause to consider the meaning of it all (the optimistic, bare-boned 'Inevitable') or gives you a case of the giggles (the cleverly ridiculous abortion/duality laugher 'Pro-Anal'). As budding bigamists of quality, the band marries distinctive vocals and varied sonic textures with words worth saying and formidable musicianship. From within the fantastical laboratory that is our reality, Soul Marrow Transplant has cooked up some good stuff and wants to share.
