Years in the Making
Stryder Callison is a native of California's central valley. A natural-born headliner, Stryder was the second of his mother's two sons and has been singing and putting on a show since he was old enough to walk and talk. Eventually Stryder would acquire his first acoustic guitar, and Stryder Callison - Singer/Songwriter was born. Growing up in the small towns that pepper the basin of the central valley, Stryder documented his life's lessons in his songs. High School would not only bring pages of new material, but also Stryder's first band - Los Cochinos. During his time spent in Los Cochinos, Stryder would develop what has come to be his signature vocal sound, a balls-out 100% pure expression of emotion that challenges the notes around it to keep up. What would follow was nearly a decade of unquestionably the best and most creative rock n roll to ever come from the Fresno music scene. Through his years of gigging with Los Cochinos, Stryder would develop a songwriting style that combines bay area acoustic poetry with so-cal punk n' roll, steeped in the rich country roots that grow throughout the central valley's rural landscape. After parting ways with Los Cochinos, Stryder turned to his stacks of notebooks, filled with years of ideas and passing thoughts and began to sort through them, searching for the glimmer of raw gems that he could Polish into the crazy diamonds that shine on in his debut solo project. Hooking up with former Los Cochinos bandmate Brett Barrett and new drummer Greg Praetz, Stryder began giving color and shape to his ideas. Days turned to weeks, months and years as Stryder and his band diligently worked and reworked their music until at last they were completely satisfied with the results. The finished product of all that hard work is the aptly titled Years in the Making, the story of a small-town musician and his journey from the cradle to the stage. Each track on Stryder Callison's debut album is as original and engaging as the people and places that inspired it. Stryder Callison has arrived, and he brought his guitar, so get in here and join the party.
