Tobias Southcott was born in 1965 and grew up in Northern Ireland in a musical background, although none of family are professional musicans. As a child he learnt to play the fiddle and discovered a great love of Irish music. At the age of 17 he moved to Germany and received a grant playing the harp (celtic) at the age of 19 Two years later he entered the Stuttgart College of Music and studied under Therese Reichling (concert harp) completing the course including those in Freiburg, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. Further studies followed in The Hague, Netherlands under Edward Witsenburg and in France under Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche, Nice. He is a free-lance harpist following the invitation to start a harp class in several music schools, privat teaching and concerts, that have taken him across Europ, to U.S.A. and Israel as a Soloist and chamber musician. He also has frequent preformances on the radio and television and teaches at the College of Music Stuttgart. Harp Portrait Classic is a solo CD, classical harp works from Baroque to Romantic Impressionist harp and contains both by virtuosity, vitality, creative interpretation, as well as by great musical sensitivity and elasticity concerned.
