Hitting a home run on your first time up isn't easy, but Vanessa Carlton did just that. The # 5 hit "A Thousand Miles" was spawned from her work-in-progress album and followed by the # 30 chart-topper "Ordinary Day." Helped immensely by the videos for both songs and their exposure on MTV, Carlton was able to find a rewarding outlet for her creative songwriting and piano-playing skills she developed from age two. Along that path, she received two Grammy nominations and a platinum selling debut for her efforts. Subsequent albums provided songs like "Heroes & Theives," "Home," and "White Houses," all included here.
