After releasing his 2015 album "Rattle That Lock," Gilmour ventured out on a concert tour of historic sites. Of course, high up on the list (for David and for Pink Floyd fans) was the Pompeii Amphitheatre in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, where one of the greatest concert documentaries of all time was filmed: "Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii" (1972). Unlike the Pink Floyd film, though, this one was shot in front of an audience—the first rock concert played to an audience in this ancient amphitheatre since the time of the gladiators, almost 2,000 years ago. In fact, Gilmour played two concerts at Pompeii, and this release includes highlights from both shows, filmed in 4K and featuring a massive circular cyclorama screen, lasers and pyrotechnics (this is truly an amazing audio-visual experience). The best from David’s recent albums join crucial classics from his years as the revered guitar hero of Pink Floyd: "One of These Days" (the only song here that Pink Floyd played in the 1972 film), "The Great Gig in the Sky," "Comfortably Numb," "Run Like Hell," "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Today," "Sorrow," "Faces of Stone," "The Blue," "Money," "Wish You Were Here," "High Hopes" and more.
