In 2006 he was a featured artist at the Poretta Soul Festival. With a career now spanning over thirty years, Lannie is one of Memphis' most vital musicians. Currently living and teaching somewhere in Asia or maybe Africa, his keyboard skills are legendary. After obsessing over Bach for nearly a decade, he spent his high school years studying gospel piano with Derrick Jackson, musician extraordinaire. Recorded at Inside Sounds Produced by, McCarty-Hite Project From the 2000 CD release Weekend in Memphis When Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jim McCarty came to Memphis at Richard Hite's invitation to record a few tracks, it was magic at first note. The former Canned Heat bassist and Yardbirds' drummer relaxed in the studio for an extended weekend while elements of Blues, Rock and Jazz landed on two-inch analog tape. A full CD's worth of music was recorded and received across the board critical praise. "Zulu Stomp" is the only instrumental from the CD. Sadly, Richard Hite passed away in September, 2001. Recorded at Inside Sounds Produced by, Rick Caughron and Eddie Dattel From the 1993 CD release The Memphis Music Sampler In it's original form, "One For Tom" was a song recorded in 1988 at a now defunct Midtown studio. When Memphis celebrity Tom Hackenberger died in 1992, the original master tape was located and Tom's piano track isolated and then transferred to Inside Sounds. With only the piano track to play to, Chuck Reynolds recorded the drums followed by session players Jim Spake on saxophone, John McClure on upright bass, Robert Nighthawk on organ, and Ed Finney on guitar. His enthusiasm and sheer talent has created opportunities for him to play with such Memphis luminaries as Rufus Thomas, Leroy Hodges and Ben Cauley. Many know him as the guitarist for Hope Clayburn's Soul Scrimmage. On this track, harp virtuoso Billy Gibson adds some down-home licks to complement Robert's guitar. At the time of this recording, the average age of the band was only sixteen! Apart from exciting local gigs, the band was invited to perform at the Poretta Soul Festival in Italy in 2006. On "Saturday Mornin' Lovin'," musical director and guitarist Matt Isbell steps out front with this Memphis soul original. Recorded at Cherry Park Studio Produced by, Larkin Bryant Cohen From the 1998 CD release Lark In The Twilight Larkin Bryant Cohen, founder of the Memphis Dulcimer Festival and author of Larkin's Dulcimer Book is accompanied by her husband Andy Cohen on this track. Between the two of them they play over forty instruments and perform at coffee shop venues, folk festivals and often share their musical knowledge in schools and churches. Andy also produced the highly celebrated 2002 release Gary Davis Style, a tribute CD to Reverend Gary Davis. Legendary saxophonist and flautist Herman Green has jammed with many greats including Lionel Hampton, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Cannonball Adderly. When local Beale Street jam band FreeWorld was founded some twenty years ago, Green was their musical mentor and continues to perform and record with the band. Green is truly a music icon and is revered by both his musical contemporaries and up-and-coming musicians. During those years, he played with numerous bands including The Bar-Kays, members of The Hi Rhythm Section and The Isaac Hayes Movement. "Flowdometer" is one of several tracks he recorded while in Memphis. Randy continues performing and teaching in Central and Eastern Kentucky. Guitarist Corey Osborne was just eighteen when he recorded with Full Circle. Sadly, just days before this CD was completed, Corey died in a car accident on November, 28, 2008. Produced by- Michael Jefry Stevens Michael Jefry Stevens has immersed himself into the Memphis Jazz scene, infusing it with a new energy. The prolific Stevens has composed over 400 works for various Jazz ensembles and has released upwards of 60 CDs. He was a MacDowell Colony Fellow in 2000 and a Centrum Arts Composer in Residence in 2005. He tours extensively in Europe, Latin America and North America, and at the same time is anchored in Memphis both with his adjunct teaching at Rhodes College and his performing in various local ensembles. W.C. Handy Preservation Band- The Memphis Blues (W.C. Recorded at Inside Sounds Produced by, Carl Wolfe From the 2002 CD W.C. Handy's Beale Street, Where The Blues Began Known as the "Father of the Blues," W.C. Handy was America's most successful African-American composer during the early twentieth century. Jazz musician and arranger Carl Wolfe handpicked the musicians for a monumental Handy tribute project and wrote the arrangements the way he imagined Handy's band might have performed them more than 80 years ago. "The Memphis Blues" is the opening piece from that CD. Wolfe has worked with Inside Sounds as an artist, producer and arranger since 1995. He is the co-founder, arranger and saxophonist of the Memphis Jazz Orchestra, and produced the critically acclaimed Music Aboard The Titanic, a CD officially endorsed by the world-touring Titanic exhibition.
